Tamariki Poerani
The most renowned dance troupe from Tahiti, French Polynesia, Tamariki Poerani was founded by Makau Foster, a choreographer and artistic director with more than 40 years of dance experience. Tahitian dance is deeply popular and widely practiced across the islands of Tahiti. However, with the changing times and lifestyles, many young people no longer speak their mother tongue or devote time to traditional dance. To preserve and pass down this cultural heritage, Makau Foster established Tamariki Poerani in 1978, leading the troupe to participate in numerous Tahitian dance festivals and cultural performances ever since.
