Li Guang-cai hails from Makazayazaya (Ma-chia township) in Pingtung. He joined the Flying Fish Leopard Music Troupe in 1999, where he merged music with indigenous activism and began performing ancient melody. In 2003, he produced the theme song for the TV drama "Dana Sakura.” In 2011, his album "A Century of Paiwan Splendor: Indigenous Leader Music Album" earned him the Best Indigenous Singer Award at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards. In 2023, he released "Records of Floating Life: Guang-cai and the Old Musicians," which was nominated for the Best Indigenous Singer Award at the 35th Golden Melody Awards.

Lin Guang-cai, who left his home at 16 and wandered until he was 50 before returning to his tribe as a chief. He feels deeply about the loss of traditional indigenous culture and believes that ancient tunes and songs need to be nurtured by a genuine lifestyle and immersion in native language environments. Through his songs, he conveys the wisdom of his ancestors and depicts the coexistence of his people with nature. His newly created traditional melodies sing of the joys and sorrows of life, the dignity of his people, and are imbued with solemnity and pride. They also carry a sense of humor and deep emotion, yet overflow with a melancholic melody that hints at the inevitable fate of assimilation by foreign cultures.
