CIKAWASAY is a band formed by Emlyn Marimutu from Mauritius, Tai Hsiao-chun (Sauljaljul) from the Paiwan tribe, and Putad Pihay from the Amis tribe. They refer to each other as CIKAWASAY, which means "spirit medium" in the Amis language. In their music, they serve as each other's spiritual mediums, hybridizing their different cultures. The three sisters use instruments as their tools and rhythm as their heartbeat, with a central focus on preserving their cultural spirit in their creations. Their musical style is primarily world music, and the dynamic energy of their live performances is truly explosive.
