Bulareyaung Dance Company
Founded in 2015 in Taitung by Paiwan choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava, the creations and member training of B.D.C involve labor in the mountains and singing along the coast. Through each field research, they continuously dig into their own traditions and culture, developing unique body movements and vocabulary from this foundation. In 2017, they won the Performing Arts Award at the 16th Taishin Arts Award for their work “Stay That Way”. The following year, they received the Annual Grand Prize at the 17th Taishin Arts Award for their work “Luna”. They are the first team in Taiwan to win consecutive awards. Additionally, they are the only troupe invited four times to perform as a guest at the Pasiwali Music Festival.
Ponay is an Amis from the East Coast, specifically from the Folalacay (Xiaogang tribe, Chenggong Township) in Taitung. He is the creator of the "Ponay's Indigenous Cover" YouTube channel, where he works as a singer, music creator, music arranger, and host. In 2020, he released a video on YouTube featuring covers of classic pop songs with Indigenous vocal styles. The video showcased a classic bedroom setting with a microphone and keyboard, reinterpreting classic hits by artists such as Suming, Elva Hsiao, and S.H.E. He has collaborated with various singers, including A-Lin, Eve Ai, Waa Wei, Princess Ai, Matzka, and Samingad Purepurepuan (Chi Hsiao Chun), sparking a wave of Indigenous-style music on social media.
