Brazilian Cultural Village

As the fifth largest country in the world, Brazil integrates cultures from Africa, Europe, and the Americas, giving rise to diverse art forms such as Samba, Forro, Capoeira, Choro, and Bossa Nova, which have profoundly influenced the globe.

At PASIWALI, there will be cultural experiences including Samba dance, Forro dance for the Brazilian Corn Festival, Samba Reggae percussion, and Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art and music.

During the Brazilian Carnival, the Passista, or Samba dancers adorned in feathers, will be represented by Faby (Shen Wei-na) in Taiwan, who will lead everyone in experiencing Samba and the celebratory Forro dance for the Corn Festival.

Teacher Sam (Jiang,Jian-zhang) from the Bloco Força, a Brazilian percussion group, will present the traditional rhythms of Bahia of Brazil, introducing participants to Brazilian percussion instruments in an easy-to-learn way while showcasing the unique charm of Samba Reggae rhythms.

Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that has been passed down since the 16th century and recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, served as a significant cultural symbol in Brazil. Teacher Ninja (Zhang Wei-yao) will guide everyone in experiencing Capoeira, including its martial arts, music, and songs.
